Painting house numbers on curbs

Just drive around a few neighborhoods and you will find house numbers on curbs that need re-painting or curbs with no numbers at all. So, you can now see that people need your service! I would probably charge about $20.00 per set of numbers but you can charge whatever you want to...it's your business!

Now, don't just run out there and start painting, first you need to practice, practice, practice. Go get some number stencils (Home Depot should have them), some outdoor spray paint (both white and black), some blue painter's tape and a good piece of cardboard for your rectangle.

You need to experiment on a large piece of cardboard or whatever you have that is disposable. First cut out your cardboard rectangle, tape it to the surface you want to paint and spray it white. Then take the stencils and position them inside the white rectangle using the painter's tape and carefully spray them black. Sounds easy huh?

Actually, it's not as easy as you may think, the trick is to not let the paint run or get any overspray. Once you do this a few times you will get better and better and find some tricks of your own to make the job cleaner and faster.

Make Money Re-Striping Parking Lots

Re-striping parking lots is also a good money maker. Find a parking lot that is in bad repair, that used to have stripes, and go talk to the owner.

For parking lots you will need actual striping paint, (also available at Home Depot,) a paint roller, painter's tape, a chalk line (to make straight lines) and maybe a few orange cones to keep cars off the lines till they dry. You can use spray striping paint and a stripe painting gun that rolls while you walk but you are going to have to practice with it before attempting a spray job. Overspray is real ugly!
