Buenos Aires is the capital of the South American country of Argentina. Argentina, along with Chile, occupies most of the lower half of the continent and is south of the Tropic of Capricorn. Buenos Aires is a large Atlantic seaport which was settled by the Spanish and like most Spanish cities, has a plaza. This plaza, Plaza de Mayo, is where many important events and demonstrations take place.
Culture is very vital and alive to the people of Buenos Aires as shown by the beautiful seven story opera house and theatre, classed as one of the top five theatres in the world.
The expensive and very brightly painted artist colony of La Boca, painted with the paint discards of the shipyard, was originally the enclave of immigrants but now modern artists emit unique inspired art.
The history of Argentina can be grasped by a walk in La Recoleta Cemetery where the rich, the famous, the political and maybe a few of the infamous and common are buried.
For a broader view of Argentinian life, a trip to a ranch outside the city where a barbeque is served and some of the traditional entertainment is performed and equipment shown would do well.
Certainly, Buenos Aires is a fun and interesting spot on our globe.
