Krakow, Poland is one of the most beautiful cities in the Europe and definitely the most beautiful original historic city in Poland having escaped destruction during WWII. As a market town, it has been important for over 1,000 years and may even have held the very first Christmas market.

Surrounding the Town Square are lovely historic buildings

with narrow shop filled streets radiating from it and the Royal Route to the castle cutting through it. The castle
is on one end and the 14th century Florianska Gate

guards the other end. The Royal Route goes in front of St. Mary's Cathedral

where hourly a live trumpeter trumpets a melody to announce the hour and it continues on in front of the Church of Saints and Peter and Paul

which is fronted by statues of the twelve disciples.

The legends and folklore of Krakow are filled with dragons. Dragons are found in many places; they guard the castle

and even their bones guard the castle cathedral. Krakow is such an interesting, exciting and FUN city, especially during the holidays.
