Taipei is the capital of the island nation of Taiwan. It has been a nation since the Chinese National government under Chang Kai-sheik fled the Chinese Communist government in 1949.
To many people, it is also known as Formosa, Beautiful Island. Taiwan is very hilly and has many hot springs.
Taipei has a multitude of beautifully carved, brightly painted temples and shrines squeezed in strange and difficult places.
These are not only Buddhist but Taoist, Confucian and, in the woods, Shaman.
We nightly visited and enjoyed the NIGHT MARKETS which is an important part of the economy of Taipei.
If you are not afraid of street food, which we are not, there is a plethora of wonderful foods and tastes.
China is not China without tea. Fields of tea surround Taipei and a wonderful tea museum is in the village of Pinglin whose street lights are even tea pots and a large tea pot the fountain in the middle of the vllage.
