Xi'an, China once rivaled Rome and Constantinople as the greatest city on earth. It was the beginning of the SILK ROAD which span two continents, providing Rome with many expensive and exotic goods and may possibly have been a factor in the possible bankruptcy of that empire.
Xi'an was catapulted into fame in 1974 when peasants turned up what is now known to be the tomb of China's first emperor, Emperor Qin Shihuang, and his terracotta army.
These terracotta warriors are one of the grandest attractions in all of China though in Xi'an there are also other more subtle and unique sights.
A massive wall surrounds old Xi'an with a mighty gate in each side.
Many activities of life, trade and art go on within those walls
as well as the religious practices of the Toas, Buddhist, Islamists and Christians.
There are also many other wonderful sights to see and experience in Xi'an. It is easy to understand why Xi'an is one of the MUST-SEE CITIES in all of China.
